Welcome to my art gallery.
The beings and landscapes in my paintings first appeared in my childhood sketchbooks and dream journals. Some beings are similar to animals we are familiar with, and some are more fantastic, like sea creatures or beings from other worlds. No matter how familiar or strange, the themes running through the series are tranquility, gentleness, tenderness, and love.
Technique:
For the more complex magical realism landscapes such as Elephant Island, I first create a miniature model out of natural materials and artists materials (such as clay and carved plaster). Next, I find the right lighting and angle of view, and photograph the piece using a digital camera. I then use the digital images as well as the original model to help me paint the painting.
Symbols:
The symbol page lists some of the recurring symbols and images with explanations as to what they represent.
Thank you for visiting, and I hope you enjoy the work.
